அருப்புக்கோட்டையில் நாளை தொடங்கி நடைபெற இருக்கின்ற விருதுநகர் மாவட்ட மாநாட்டிற்கான களப்பணியில் அருப்புக்கோட்டை BSNLEU மற்றும் TNTCWU தோழர்கள் சுறுசுறுப்பாயிருக்கிறார்கள். விருதுநகரில் இருந்து மாநாட்டுப் பணிகளில் மாவட்டச் செயலர் தோழர் ரவீந்திரன், மாவட்ட உதவிச் செயலாளர் தோழர்கள் முத்துச்சாமி, சந்திரசேகரன் மற்றும் விருதுநகர் SDOP கிளைச் செயலர் தோழர் சிங்காரவேலு ஆகியோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

BSNL staff threaten strike against merger with MTNL

    Two lakh and fifty thousand workers of BSNL will resort to immediate indefinite strike if the Government decides to merge BSNL and MTNL. The workers’ union is also against hiving off the tower assets of BSNL into a separate company.The Forum of BSNL Unions /Associations, which is the co-coordinating committee of the unions/associations of non-executives and executives in BSNL, at its meeting held on March 3, strongly opposed the move on grounds that it will seriously and adversely affect the future of BSNL and its workforce.“It was only Government that divided the DOT services into three companies — MTNL, VSNL and BSNL — which the workers had opposed at that time. The bifurcation has seriously and adversely affected the growth of the PSUs,” said a statement.“During these decades many changes have taken place on issues such as disinvestment (46.5 per cent of MTNL, while BSNL is a 100 per cent Govt company) and salary (MTNL’s salary is higher than BSNL). The Government’s proposal for merger of the BSNL and MTNL without solving the above issues will further complicate the situation and will seriously and adversely affect the future of BSNL and its workers,” it added.V A N Namboodiri, Convener Forum, said despite the fact that the Forum has expressed its protest at these arbitrary actions and asked to be heard, the Government has not discussed the issues with the workers and their unions, who are the most important stakeholders.“It is reported that the Government is proposing to take decision on these matters urgently and hastily before the declaration of the general decisions, even without giving the unions/associations a chance to be heard. The workers are, naturally, very much restive and agitated about their future as well as the future of BSNL,” he said.

BSNL to hike land line, broadband rentals from March 1

            India’s largest state-owned telecommunications service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to increase the landline and broadband monthly tariff from March 1 across the country.“One India monthly plan for landline will be revised from Rs 180 to Rs 195,” said BSNL CGM (Kolkata) Gautam Chakraborty.The fixed monthly charge for limited usage broadband plans has similarly been increased. The revision is between Rs 24 and Rs 350 depending on the scheme, he added.The Rs 250 plan will now cost Rs 275, Rs 600 plan will get revised to Rs 630 while, the Rs 400 plan will cost Rs 424, Rs 2799 and Rs 3699 plans will be dearer by 200 a month, he said.The Rs 4999 and 6999 plans will get hiked by Rs 250 and 350 a month, he added.
